How to Get There?
When you come from Lombok International Airport, use Damri bus heading to Senggigi Beach. This bus will take you to Senggigi, by paying IDR 20,000 or IDR 30,000 or if you just want to go to Mataram.
Basically there are two main access to Gili Air, from Pelabuhan Bangsal (public harbor) or from Teluk Kodek (private harbor). If you depart from Senggigi or Mataram, you can ride public transportation during the 2 hour trip at a cost of IDR 15,000, OJEG cost IDR 50,000 for a 1-hour drive, or a taxi at a cost of IDR 100,000 for 45-minute trip.
To reach Pelabuhan Bangsal you can choose to ride Engkel. A trip with engkel usually starts from Branch 4 Pasar Rembiga, located about 200 m from the former Selaparang Airport. From there engkel will go to Pelabuhan Bangsal junction. From this you can walk about 200 meters to reach Pelabuhan Bangsal. Or else, you can also rent Cidomo, a local means of transportation, by paying in as much IDR 5,000 to IDR 10,000.
From Pelabuhan Bangsal, a boat ride has a ticket and you should pay in as much IDR 10,000 to get to Gili Air. The boat departs twice a day.
Public Facility in Gili Air
Sure there is plenty of accommodations you can choose and most of them are operated and managed by local people. Only few means of accommodations are owned and managed by foreign investors. Most hotels on Gili Air are located in east, west, and south side of the island.
